One major disadvantage of Notes...

Notes/Domino is a dead platform. Dice.com only has a handful of job listings, and most of them are for migrations and conversions. I hear Bank of New York is getting rid of Domino and will use MS Outlook for mail. Even UNICEF is getting rid of Domino. About two and a half years ago I tried to hire a really good Notes programmer. It was nearly impossible. It took nearly 6 months to find someone who was actually good at Notes. I'd imagine it would be even harder today. Most programmers have moved on.

It would be foolhardy for any company to bring in a system that they can't find developers for, and that will likely no longer exist as a supported platform in a few years.
